So I've had Beer Belly on my mind ever since the event Wolvesmouth had there - the space was pretty cool, and I was continually tantalized by their twitter feed promising stuff like cherry coke lamb chops.. so I *finally* made it back there two weeks ago.. lazy-me means this post with pics didn't make it up until now, apologies!
It was a chill Sunday afternoon. The bartender was nice and friendly, it wasn't too crowded, I was happily imposing my music selections on the room via their jukebox app.. first up had to be the beer:
Blue House Pale
El Segundo, 5.5% Smoked Wheat Ale
Eagle Rock – Solidarity
Eagle Rock, 3.8% English Dark Mild
Craftsman – Fireworks Saison
Pasadena, 7.3% Farmhouse Ale
Craftsman - Triple White Sage
Pasadena, 9.0% Sage Tripel
My favorite definitely had to be the Craftsman Triple White Sage - a really unique flavor (it smelled super intensely of sage but the taste wasn't quite as strong. but was really good). But I was surprised by how much I liked the Eagle Rock Solidarity. I could see myself drinking that beer again and again.
Next up: Duck Fat Fries!
DUCK FAT FRIES - Smoked Salt, Sweet Onion Sugar, Duck Skin Cracklins, Raspberry Mustard (ADD DEATH BY DUCK (aka duck confit) for $2 more? hell yeah!)
mmm.. so good. :) so unhealthy, in the best kind of way. eating these really made me start thinking again about ordering buckets of duck fat from Hudson Valley.. next up, the twitter-advertised lamb chops:
CHERRYCOKE LOLLIPOP LAMB CHOPS - New Zealand Lamb, fresh Mint, Walnuts
The only bad thing about these was that there were only two! I loved the flavor, and it was cooked perfectly. I resisted ordering a second order as the huge pile of fries still demanded my attention. And plus there was dessert:
DEEP-FRIED OREOS - Nutella, Vanilla Ice cream
Being from Texas, I find it hard to turn down any deep fried.. well, any deep fried anything. I never had deep fried oreos before and these were surprising soft inside. but in a really good way. I would totally order these again. mmmm.
A sucessful trip! I am really looking forward to finding an excuse to go back ASAP. Too bad they are not closer to my house, but maybe it's for the best since otherwise I'd be fat and drunk all the time..
Oh yeah - and after this gluttonous feast I went home and ran 7 miles. Quite possibly one of the worst runs of my running 'career' due to all this food not being exactly the best running fuel, but I did not walk. and.. it was worth it!
